Saint-Charles is a day & boarding school with a rich tradition of 120 years to celebrate. This school welcomes pupils in the age groups 8-20, this school and it is run by a non-profit group. The institution has special focus on the students to inculcate the traditional values of integrity in them. The community can converse in five languages including English and French.

The institution was created with a vision of encouraging open-mindedness, knowledge sharing and curiosity amongst both children and the tutors. Founded by Ernest Daucourt on 3rd May 1897, this boarding school offers academic assistance to all those seeking holistic development in addition to academics. Academics

The school offers a complete curriculum to students aged 8 to 20 with a proper curriculum structure in place to cater to the needs of the students. Primary School

Saint-Charles welcomes primary school pupils from the 5th HarmoS onwards, providing them with highly-structured teaching supervised by a team of teachers who work closely together. The school’s teaching schedules are quite different from that of public schools, especially when the students transit to secondary school. They make use of the 5th and 7th year of primary school to get acquainted with the school and intensive language learning. Afterwards, the 8th and 9th year offer the student an opportunity to finish their training in order to choose their future path at the end of the 9th year.

Secondary School

The college education offered at Saint-Charles comes in two pathways –the Pre-gymnasial “A” pathway and the General “B” pathway. The pre-gymnasial “A” pathway is mainly for students who wish to pursue further studies after the completion of compulsory schooling. The course offers the students a Latin option, which is important for learning the language in high school or a science option that includes the study of physics and applied sciences as well as an hour of technical drawing. The General “B” pathway is for pupils who intend to go to a commercial school, an apprenticeship or a general education school.

Matura

Saint Charles offers Maturité diplomas after four years of courses, allowing the students to reconcile their studies with extra-curricular activities. This helps the students to develop their know-how and their social skills. The school is also committed to encouraging language learning by setting up a bilingual French-English Maturité branch. The teaching activities in the target language will account for over 1300 hours spread over the four years of the Lycée, in accordance with the requirements of Commission Suisse de Maturité.

PEI / International Baccalaureate MYP Program (new in 2020)

Collège & Lycée Saint Charles has also developed an MYP program for students between 11 and 16 years old to prepare them for the IB diploma. Students can join the final two years of the Middle Years Program (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate (IB) and develop skills that will allow them to evolve in a global world.

Extracurricular Activities

The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities. Sporting facilities are available for students such an indoor pool, outdoor facilities and multi-purpose sports hall on the campus. Wide choices are offered thereby permitting the students to practice team sports as well as the individual.
