Location:
Montreux International School resides within the scenic Swiss city of Montreux. Perched on Lake Geneva’s eastern shores, Montreux enjoys easy access to the Alps combined with glimmering lake views.
Montreux is well connected to Europe via a fast and efficient rail network. Geneva is about an hour away by train, while Bern is an hour and 20 minutes’ drive. Flights from either city connect students to most major destinations in the world.
Overview:
As the inaugural institute of the newly formed VIE Education group, Montreux International School is committed to teaching students the essentials—“lifeworthy learning,†in the words of founders Jon Halligan and Damian Bacchoo.
The world-class business school accepts students aged 16-19 into its International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme, specializing in digital markeing, business and hospitality management. Small class sizes of no more than 25 pupils and a positive internationally-minded atmosphere sets students up to thrive.
Core Values:
Four core values underpin everyday learning at Montreux International School.
Courage and Innovation: Students are encouraged to challenge educational norms, and all ideas—no matter how big or small—are taken on board.
Social Change: An environmentally friendly campus and consistent contributions to the local community help construct a sustainable society for everyone to share.
Future Focus: The curriculum focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to succeed, both now and in the decades to come.
Diversity & Inclusion: Celebrating diversity allows us to foster a more tolerant community, uniting students to strive for honesty and integrity.
Academics:
Students at the Montreux International School study a business, digital marketing and hospitality Career-related Programme (CP) as part of the International Baccalaureate’s (IB). Specially designed for students aged between 16 and 19, the course combines the academic rigour of the IB with the relevant real-world experience of the CP.
The two-year programme has been broken down into three components: the IB’s Diploma Programme (DP), the Core Programme (CP), and the Career-Related Study.
Upon completion, students will be ready to advance into tertiary education at a prestigious university. The internationally recognized IBCP qualification opens the door to many of the world’s best tertiary institutions. Alternatively, the acquired skills allow ambitious students to enter directly into employment in their preferred business field.
Extra Curricular Activities:
Montreux International School includes extra-curricular activities as an integral component of the programme. The aim is to allow students to pursue special interests and develop critical skills for life after school. Some of the activities on offer include debating teams, charity runs, and student governance.
Many extra-curricular activities complement the curriculum to reinforce existing classroom learning. Others encourage the student to explore new ground and excel in areas outside the academic domain.
